2017 FIFA Confederations Cup Runs Hytera TETRA Systems

Hytera, a leading global provider of innovative Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) communications solutions, has become a technology partner of the National Center for Informatization (NCI), a subsidiary of Rostec State Corporation of Russia, and has supplied TETRA infrastructures to provide radio communications during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.


On the basis of Hytera infrastructures, the NCI deployed TETRA professional radio communications for the Cup, which supported more than 4,000 subscribers in different cities. During the events, the service worked properly and without failures. On all the days of the matches, 19,311 people used this service and made 274,285 calls.


The importance of the ICT infrastructure project requires application of the most advanced technologies and solutions. TETRA radio communication was arranged on the basis of Hytera infrastructures in all city-organizers of tournaments and cities with training arenas. Trunking communication was deployed at stadiums, training grounds, headquarters of FIFA and referees, hotels, airports, railway stations and transportation hubs. In addition, the service was organized in international broadcasting centers, main and regional operation centers of the Confederations Cup.

The above facilities required arrangement of radio coverage, which provided voice transmission, group calls with one or more groups of subscribers, individual calls, emergency calls, scanning of a conversation group, selective listening according to the access permission and other services supplied on the basis of Hytera infrastructure.


2017 FIFA Confederations Cup was held from June 17 to July 2, 2017 at 4 stadiums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Kazan, Russia. Rostec State Corporation had been appointed as the sole contractor of the project for establishment of communication and IT infrastructure for 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. The project was implemented by Rostec subsidiary company, the National Center for Informatization.
